police, on Thursday said that former militia colonels Tudor Stanica
and Mihail Creanga, who were put on a nation-wide search after they
were sentenced to 22 years in prison over the murder of anticommunist
dissident Gheorghe Ursu, are hiding together somewhere in the country.
The police inspector said that the names of Stanica and Creanga are
not registered in the files of the border police that they left the
country. "I've found out from their families that they left together
but we don't know their whereabouts exactly. Due to the importance
of the case, we're doing our best to catch them", said Tutilescu.
According to the inspector, the two disappeared from their homes before
the warrants for their arrest could be enforced. They police holds
the information that they both hide in the same place waiting for
the decision about the promotion of an appeal to seek the annulment
of the court ruling in their case. A reader informed "Evenimentul
zilei" reporter, an information later confirmed by the police, that
Tudor Stanica might be hiding in his mountain villa somewhere near
Zarnesti town, where it is very difficult to get on a forest road
in summer.
