FOUNDATION ACTIVITIES

• The Foundation serves the memory and ideals of Gheorghe Ursu. He was a symbol of his country's conscience and dignity, for which he gave his life.
  
  
• The Foundation has created an endowment for the fields of arts and journalism, translating into awards and grants.
  
  
• These awards strive to keep alive the awareness of the past decades' totalitarian oppression in Romania. They will serve to sustain the spirit of freedom and tolerance, in the generous, multivalent and free spirit of the poet.
  
  
• The Foundation will initiate and support programs and efforts that denounce the policy of force, the extremist ideologies and tendencies of both the left and the right; the nationalist and chauvinist demagogy, the falsification of history, the cover-up of the crimes of past dictatorial regimes.
