It is hard to define an exceptional man, with such a complex structure. En encyclopedic spirit characterized by multiple talents and passions, he wrote poetry (volumes "Always two" - 1972, "Pre-sentiments, Post-sentiments" - literary remains 1993), travelling notes ( volume "My Europe" - literary remains 1991), social and political satires.

An enamoured of arts, he brought new perspectives and original remarks about painting, music, literature, architecture, sculpture and film. "It can't be said about Gheorghe Ursu what the poets generally like to be told about them: that they are great poets. But him was an exemplary poet! And he died in the Securitate's cellars. To kill such a man is the same thing with killing the King of the Butterflies"
(Geo Bogza - 11 May 1993).
